I first experienced the healing power of yoga during my post-graduate days when I was laid up in bed with a partial disc prolapse. I was in pain for most of the day and found it difficult to resume my normal life. Yoga came to my rescue I learnt specific postures to strengthen the back and started practicing at home daily. Over time with demands of marriage, parenting and a corporate career taking over, yoga took a back-seat – I still practiced yoga but not very regularly.

Much later in life, at a time when my personal life was in shambles, I was thoroughly disillusioned with my corporate career and was seeking purpose in life, I met my Mentor, Sri Mumtaz Ali He guided me to become a yoga teacher and counselor and initiated me into Kriya Yoga.

This was the turning point in my life. I took up the study and practice of Ashtanga Yoga seriously and went on to get certified as a yoga teacher.

Simultaneously, I realized I needed to free myself from my past traumas a turbulent childhood, dysfunctional relationships and divorce had left me with low self-esteem,

unresolved pain and a host of other negative emotions. I consciously worked on myself and gradually rebuilt my life afresh on my own terms.
